Students who have never entered an academic competition before.
I have taken part in academic competitions and learned that getting started is not always easy. Sometimes the information is spread across many websites. Sometimes students hear about a contest too late. Some students have coaches and organized school teams, while others have to figure out everything on their own.
Meet the founder
I'm a student who has participated in academic competitions across math, science, Quiz Bowl, and debate. Through those experiences, I saw how much easier it is to get started when students have a strong team, an experienced coach, or access to good preparation resources.
I started Compete Smart as my 2026 Ambassador project. With guidance through the Davidson Ambassador Program, I am building a free, student-friendly resource center that makes it easier to understand what academic competitions are available, how they work, and where students can find useful ways to prepare.
My goal is simple: make the first step into academic competitions clearer and more accessible, especially for students who may be figuring things out on their own.
Many students are interested in math, science, debate, or quiz competitions, but they may not know which competition fits them. They may also be unsure about deadlines, age limits, study resources, or how much preparation is needed.
A lot of helpful information exists, but it can take a long time to find and compare.
Compete Smart brings beginner-friendly information into one place. The goal is not to promise awards or make competitions feel stressful. The goal is to help students make a first step.
